After each opening with a win in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, the marquee matchup of Pool C comes on Saturday evening with the United States battling the Dominican Republic at Marlins Park in Miami.
The 6:30 p.m. ET game will be televised by MLB Network, with Matt Vasgersian, John Smoltz, and Jon Morosi on the call. The game will be streamed online by MLB Network, with television provider authentication.
The Dominican Republic is the defending WBC victor and won its opening game against Canada on Thursday. This is just the second meeting between these two countries in the World Baseball Classic. The Dominicans beat Team USA 3-1 in the second round in 2013, also at Marlins Park.
Team USA opened the 2017 WBC with a 3-2, 10-inning win over Colombia on Friday, while the Dominican Republic beat Canada 9-2 in its Thursday opener.
Edinson Volquez, who signed a two-year, $22 million contract with the Marlins in December, starts for the Dominican Republic in his new home park on Saturday.
Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who was 0-for-1 with a walk in USA’s 3-2 victory over Colombia on Friday, is 7-for-14 (.500) with four doubles, a home run, and three walks in his career against Volquez.
Marcus Stroman of the Blue Jays will start for the United States on Saturday and will piggyback with Nationals starter Tanner Roark.
ESPN Deportes will televise the game in Spanish, a broadcast that will be streamed online via Watch ESPN.
