The Washington State Cougars and Boise State Broncos will face off in an important matchup on Saturday. It’s not the biggest game of the day, but 20th-ranked WSU would love to settle the score after falling to Boise State last year. You can watch the broadcast on ESPN (live stream on WatchESPN) at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The game will be played at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Wash. Last year, Boise State took an early lead in Idaho and barely held on to best Washington State in a 31-28 game. The Broncos did wind up losing some significant matchups later on though, preventing their chances of getting a big bowl game.
Washington State is favored and should win, but then again, it probably should have won a year ago as well. If the Cougars can play as well as they did against Montana State to open their season, though, they should have no trouble taking down the Broncos.
Boise State has an excellent secondary and a swarming defense, and it can give Washington State fits if it can’t work the short-to-medium passes. The big question is whether or not the Broncos can get their offense going against a Washington State defense that has been the primary focus for improvement during the offseason.

Boise State vs. Washington State news:
- Hazardous air conditions due to local forest fires have forced WSU inside for what would otherwise be outdoor practices in anticipation of Saturday’s game. This shouldn’t be a big deal come game day, but it’s harder for various special teams units to properly practice indoors.
- Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien grew up watching Washington State and nearly played there. He spoke at length about playing in Pullman in advance of the game on Saturday.
Boise State vs. Washington State prediction:
Washington State has the more complete roster, and if the Cougars can get the better of the Boise State defense, they should be able to hold up their end of the deal on that side of the ball well enough to stay ahead. A Cougars win is likely.
