BYU’s mascot, Cosmo the Cougar, recently took the world by storm with a completely overwhelming and almost not-even-real dance routine:
Really need to know who this cougar is pic.twitter.com/7gqzdzIVb2

On Saturday, BYU is playing at Mississippi State. Cougars against Bulldogs. And we’ve got ourselves a MASCOT-AGAINST-MASCOT DANCE MATTLE.

I grade this one a victory for Cosmo, wearing the white jersey. MSU’s mascot, whose name is Bully, gave it a decent effort. But Cosmo went above and beyond by going to the ground and spinning himself around like a top, and it would be disingenuous to pretend the two routines were the same. One involved going above and beyond.
I did not come into this year expect the mascot at BYU to become the viral dancing sensation that swept America with his intensity, rhythm, and grace. But life is full of surprises, and Cosmo the Cougar’s emergence on the world stage has been a good surprise. I hope he goes on Dancing with the Stars next year.
