The basics: Ohio State continues to be one of the most talented teams in college football, even as Urban Meyer loses handfuls of players to the NFL draft every year. The Buckeyes’ recruiting means they’ll have a chance to win the national championship almost every year. They’re in a difficult Big Ten East, however, which they didn’t win en route to the playoff last year. Getting back without a division title this year isn’t something Meyer’s team wants to bank on, which means there’s little margin for error.

Projected final regular season record? S&P+ pegs the Buckeyes at about 10-2.

Biggest game left: Probably the home game against Penn State on Oct. 28. That’s the likeliest game to decide the East, although it’s not the only marquee contest on Ohio State’s schedule. Games with Oklahoma and Michigan loom large.

Best game left: Never pick against Ohio State-Michigan.
