Oh please let this happen. Please please please please. There’s a report going around as of Friday morning that the Raiders are “considering” acquiring Marshawn Lynch via trade or after he gets his release from the Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson.

Wait, what? Isn’t he retired? And wasn’t he pretty adamant about it — “I’m done!” — when he said that he was retired last year?

Well, yes, but, you know, with Beast Mode all things are flexible. He’s from Oakland, so the Raiders are his hometown team.

Seattle still has his rights as a player. So they would either have to trade him or cut him in order for the Raiders to sign him.

Rumors of the Raiders chasing Lynch first surfaced on Thursday. Greg Papa, who also does the radio play-by-play for the Raiders, said on his radio show that the team was “talking to a certain running back” about playing this season on who “did not even play in the NFL last year.”

We still have no idea how Lynch himself feels about this. Papa’s report suggests that the team has at least talked to him about coming out of retirement. Schefter and Anderson were the first to report that the Raiders were talking about acquiring his rights from the Seahawks.

As with all things Marshawn, we’ll have to wait and see.

But let’s hope the rumors come to pass. An NFL with Beast Mode in it is a much better place.
