After a season of struggle, Leicester City have found new life and a new gear — but now they have to take that momentum to the Calderón in Spain to take on Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals. That’s going to be a massive challenge, even for a team with renewed confidence like Leicester, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they do in this match.

Atlético is always a difficult team to face because Diego Simeone is a hard-nosed manager who imparts his same mindset and style on his players. And despite the defensive mindset the club is often attributed with, they can play some absolutely gorgeous attacking football, especially with Antoine Griezmann on the pitch.

With Atlético bringing that kind of style and flair to the pitch, plus the hard-nosed style of players like Koke, Leicester is going to have their hands full as they try to find a way to pull off a miracle and advance. They just suffered their first loss since interim manager Craig Shakespeare took over for the fired Claudio Ranieri, and how they respond to that is going to be interesting.

The new-manager kick of momentum does seem to have worn off a bit, and they’ll need to bear down and figure out some way to get something out of this match if they’re going to have any hope of making the semifinal.
