There’s still a lot left to figure out to see who is going to qualify for the 2018 World Cup out of CONMEBOL in South America, but the one thing that is certain is that Brazil have their qualification guaranteed, putting no pressure on their match against already-eliminated Bolivia.

Of course, there’s always pride on the line, and for Bolivia there’s plenty of that to be had. Not too long ago, Bolivia were threatening to become one of the more fun teams in South America, but a run of poor form early in the group stage of qualification cut that dream short. They’ve been in much better form since 2017 started, including huge wins over Argentina and Chile, but it was too little, too late for their qualification dreams.

Another big win, this time over Brazil, would be massive for Bolivia’s confidence level moving forward though, potentially putting them into a position to be a genuine threat in the next Copa America.

That said, Brazil won’t be too interested in giving up points now — they’ll want to finish as far clear atop the table as they can, and give themselves as much momentum and quality play leading into the World Cup as they can, meaning they will not be coasting their way through this match. They’ll be out for blood, and that could be bad for Bolivia’s dreams.
