Monaco hold an advantage after a bizarre and frightening matchweek in Dortmund.

Last week saw one of the strangest and scariest Champions League affairs play out over two days, after a bomb explosion targeting the Borussia Dortmund team bus forced their home quarterfinal match against AS Monaco to be delayed by a day.

Monaco came out the better over a clearly shaken Dortmund side, and now as the tie heads to the Stade Louis II, it will be interesting to see how these two entertaining and evenly matched teams square off, now that Dortmund had a chance to recover and prepare for the match.

Monaco’s aggregate lead is slim at just 3-2, thanks to a wild and entertaining second half to that opening match, but those three away goals will be huge as they try to defend their lead. Recent history has shown that Monaco has a resolute but not impenetrable defense, especially to a team that likes to attack from various angles like Dortmund does. Even with a decided advantage like the one Monaco holds coming into the second leg, this tie is far from over.

American fans will want to keep a close eye on how Christian Pulisic performs in this match, especially in the pressure Dortmund will be under. He’s not a lock to start for his team, but no matter what role he plays, he has an excellent skillset to help Dortmund unlock Monaco’s defense, especially if they’re still chasing late. Or better yet, trying to score an extra, tie-securing goal late in the match, because he has the workrate to help defend that some of their other attackers lack.

To watch this match online in the U.S., you can stream it on the Fox Soccer 2GO subscription service, or, depending on your internet provider, you can watch for free on Fox Sports Go.
