The La Liga title race is starting to look like it’ll go down to the wire, and that means Real Madrid are under an enormous amount of pressure right now. Fortunately, they’re not facing the toughest of matches this weekend, with a struggling Valencia team coming to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Valencia have dropped their last two matches, held scoreless in one, and left completely out of the other. They went down 3-0 to Real Sociedad before clawing back to a 3-2 deficit late in the match. They don’t exactly look like a team to trouble Real Madrid right now — though Real Madrid aren’t exactly looking like they’re in their best form, either.

That could be problematic for Madrid, because if they can’t find that form, they’re in trouble. They’ve got a tough Champions League semifinal matchup coming up, but more than that, they’re dead even with Barcelona on points in La Liga, and trail their arch-rivals in every major tiebreaker. They hold a game in hand, which is huge, but the first time they lose a match, they could all but hand the title to Barca.

Real Madrid are finally getting Raphael Varane back on their back line, but Pepe and Gareth Bale are still out, and reserve defender Fabio Coentrao is in doubt. Valencia have a pair of important players suspended with both Simone Zaza and Joao Cancelo forced out of the lineup, plus another pair of players out hurt in Aymen Abdennour and Rodrigo Moreno.
