Venezuela vs. Uruguay live stream: Start time, TV channel, and how to watch online

Uruguay must win to guarantee themselves a spot in the 2018 World Cup.

Qualification to the 2018 World Cup has been a wild ride in South America, and Uruguay have been on quite a roller coaster through the CONMEBOL group qualifying process. They’ve been absolutely all over the table, but coming into the final two matches they find themselves in second place with a chance to secure a spot in the World Cup with a win over Venezeula.

In fact, Uruguay’s qualification only relies on that one result, a win in this match over the last-place team in the group. That would give them a six-point lead on the loser of the Argentina-Peru match, or a five-point lead on both if they draw. With one match to go, that would leave Uruguay safe from being caught, and ready to book their trip to the World Cup.

That would also come at the expense of Venezuela, who have fallen precipitously as one of the fringe teams in CONMEBOL that could have risen to World Cup qualification to a team with little hope or reason for optimism. They’ve won just one of their 16 qualification matches so far, winning just eight points and serving more as a punching bag for the bigger teams in South America than as the spoiler they were not that long ago.
